Content Curation & Social Media

Part of my responsibility at ELVA was kickstarting their social media presence, including planning their content, curating their photography look and feel, and learning what their viewers responded to best.

As a small agency with a huge personality, it was important to us to convey that personality and who we were, along with what we did. By taking inspiration from our fellow creatives and agency's, such as Make Reign, Made Awkward, 1924us and others, we narrowed in on our vision and voice.

I mocked up examples of what our feed could look like, whether it was posting shots of our environment and screens of our process, or infusing our voice into our feed with quotes from our bi-weekly team meetings.

Because I worked remotely from the majority of the team, I had to consider how often I would be able to shoot content in conjunction with how frequently we were planning to post. In the end, we landed on posting a visual balance of environment and quotes to display our character as an agency.

After writing up a plan of when to post, what to say, and what hashtags will help us reach our target audience best, I began posting our content with the assistance of the Unum app. The beginning tests helped me narrow in on what hashtags our target audience preferred, which content they preferred within those hashtags, and how I could increase engagement with our audience.

By creating a posting cadence for our audience, I was able to predict the amount of interactions we'd get depending on the time and hashtags used. I also utilized Instagram stories to engage our audience and other creatives in our field. Of the stories we posted weekly, every Friday I'd post a sequence of stories for "Follow Friday". In these stories, we would feature work from creatives freelancers and agency's alike to broaden our engagement with our audience.

In a matter of only a few short weeks, our content was being featured on other accounts which drove traffic to our feed and increased the number of impressions our content had by reaching a larger audience.

Next time I approach a project like this, I'd like to be more available to curate content by being in the vicinity to more freely shoot different types of content when necessary. Although I was able to give unique edits to each and every photo in a way that properly portrayed the life of the agency, I would have liked to create a wider variety of content outside of the portraits depicted of the office and designers.
